She Added Me Back After I Deleted the Night-Stall Owner

After being so broke that she couldn't sleep, He Qingxi opened her budgeting app and started figuring out where all her monthly earnings were going.

She wouldn't have known if she hadn't looked. One look and it felt like the sky was falling.

Her monthly take-home pay after taxes was 8,800 yuan. Two thousand went to her mortgage, 800 to her dog, and of the remaining 6,000, a whopping 4,000 went to food...

And by food, she meant everything from barbecue, hot pot, and little cakes to milk tea and snacks. Her biggest expense showed up in the budgeting app as just five characters: "Tonight's Snack Bar."

He Qingxi remembered. It was a late-night snack shop that opened at seven every evening. Whenever the owner opened up, she would post tempting food photos and customer reviews on her social media, and He Qingxi often couldn't resist placing an enthusiastic order.

The owner would also occasionally post snippets of her daily life, like a mirror selfie at the gym showing off her abs, a selfie on a mountaintop with a faint sheen of sweat along her collarbone, or a photo on a trip showing her luxury car's logo outside a toll booth, with the toll booth's location in the picture... In other words, the food at this shop wasn't just delicious. The owner was also disciplined, beautiful, and rich.

When He Qingxi opened WeChat and counted up their chat history, she realized that in the year since she'd added the owner, she'd spent over 10,000 yuan on her and gained five kilos.

For the sake of losing weight and saving her wallet, He Qingxi steeled herself and deleted the owner.

She thought her wallet would surely get fatter as she got thinner. But the next day, the owner suddenly added her back and sent a short message: "Found a new taste? Got a new boss?"

In that moment, He Qingxi inexplicably felt like someone who regularly went to one shop, then suddenly visited another, only to be caught by the first shop's owner. She felt guilty, as if she'd betrayed her.

Still, to explain herself, He Qingxi added the owner back and took the initiative to explain that she'd only deleted her because she wanted to lose weight.

Owner: "I can sell you weight-loss meals."

He Qingxi: "?"

She was going to eat a weight-loss meal at eleven at night?
