The Beggar, the King, and the Gods

[BE, first-person narration, read at your own risk]

The beggar Lemon prayed to the gods: I want lots and lots of money.

At the same time, King He was also praying to the gods: I want lots and lots of love.

The gods said: To destroy someone, first drive them mad.

And so, on that very day, the beggar and the king met.

One possessed supreme power and endless wealth.

The other had a face identical to the one he had loved from afar.

But the one who drives another mad must first go mad himself.
