Snake’s Travel Diary in the Beast World

This novel will be serialized starting Wednesday, September 10. Three chapters will be released together that day. I hope you’ll keep supporting it!

[This is a cute food-and-travel story with a slow pace and lots of everyday moments. I hope you enjoy it!]

The Snake King Tribe had one lazy snake. He’d swim for a little while, then rest for half a day, giving the easygoing beastfolk a taste of the frustration of watching someone fail to live up to their potential.

Couldn’t he at least swim a little farther just once?!

You Yuan was an all-around streamer on a video platform.

He slipped and tumbled down a steep slope while climbing a mountain to steal bamboo shoots from a panda. His head smacked against a rock, and that was that.

When he woke again, he was a newly hatched snake.

Apparently, his birth father was teaching him how to walk around in beast form.

You Yuan: I twist, I twist, I twist and twist and twist, and…ah, I’m tired.

His father looked at the little snake stretched out straight, then glanced back at where he’d started. After all that effort, the distance he’d swum was shorter than the snake’s own body.

After teaching him for nearly half a month, his birth father and his other father settled on the same name for him: You Yuan. Just as the name suggested, they hoped he’d manage to swim a little farther at a time.

But then

When he was three, You Yuan learned to take human form. From then on, the little tyke ran all over the place, preferring to fall flat on his face in the forest rather than move around in beast form.

His fathers were deeply worried. Their cub seemed to be some kind of crazy beastman.

But before long, the little one showed intelligence beyond his years. He could make all sorts of things, and even if he couldn’t hunt when he grew up, he’d still be able to get enough to eat.

His fathers relaxed.

They relaxed too soon.

Their cub! Their cub, whom they’d struggled so hard to raise! Had been snatched away by a passing! Rogue beastman! Their cub, who couldn’t even swim! Was going to become a wanderer!!!

[Reader’s Guide]

1. The protagonists are both snakes. Proceed with caution.

2. The author absolutely loves food-related plotlines. The pace is very slow, with a gentle, unhurried feel.

3. The protagonist has a storage-space golden finger. It can’t grow crops or stop time; it’s only for storing things, like a cellar.

In this novel, “beastfolk” is the general term; “sub-beastfolk” refers to those who give birth, while “male beastfolk” refers to those who do not. A “day” means one day. There is no specific calendar of years and months; time is measured mainly by the seasons.

Theme: The world is full of countless sights, and you and I should see them all.
