Country Life with Cats and Dogs

After three years of hard work, he had no money and stomach cancer. Shi Xun: ? Just as he was debating whether to quit his job and focus on his health or keep working despite the cancer, a System suddenly appeared! The System came from a world that had just emerged from a war. It urgently needed warm, everyday, soothing livestreams to calm people's hearts. The points earned could be exchanged for cash in this world, or for a limited quantity of products from other worlds. Shi Xun got it. This was one of those trendy industries where even a pig could take off! But... he had a question. "Why me?" The System: [Your name sounds nice.] The System again: [Your life is miserable enough.] Shi Xun: "..." The System's code flickered as it asked curiously, [I heard you have to bring your own feed to work. Why do you still want to go back to work when you have cancer?] Shi Xun: "..." First, he was grateful for his nice name, then he pretended not to hear the rest. When Shi Xun was born, the village was dividing up the collectively owned mountain land, and he was allocated an entire mountain in his hometown's remote hills. It had gone untended for more than twenty... fifty years, and had since become a deep, wild forest. Shi Xun decided to develop it into his own chance to strike it rich. The soil was dug and the trees felled. At last, sunlight streamed through the canopy and fell upon the little brook. Wildflowers bloomed, and fresh green grass swayed in the breeze. A newly arrived fawn leapt lightly over a low slope and came face-to-face with a German Shepherd on patrol. They passed each other without so much as a glance. A fox yipped, and a cat napped in a tree as a myna flew past. A horse grazed from one end to the other, spat out a mouthful of sheep's wool it had accidentally bitten, then huffed at the lamb for no reason... Shi Xun kept one animal here and another there. Once he'd raised them, he couldn't bring himself to eat any of them, so he went to the village to buy chickens and ducks instead. Villagers: ? Is there something wrong with this kid? [Reading Guide] The gong appears later on. The romance is simple and sweet, and he is not just a background character. Theme: Life is so pleasant. Why not slow down and enjoy it?
