Puppet masters are skilled at crafting and controlling puppets, casting spells through them to guard the boundary between yin and yang.
Bai Renshu went away on a trip and came home to find a snail ghost living in his house. Ever since moving in, the ghost had been busy nonstop. Watering the flowers, cooking, cleaning: he did everything, and was even more hardworking than the Snail Girl.
The snail ghost was very shy. Bai Renshu tried to talk to him several times, but every attempt failed.
Little Bai refused to give up. He went to great lengths to find the finest jade, and whenever he saw a piece he liked, he did whatever it took to get his hands on it. He didn't care if he angered people by taking what they wanted. All he could think about was the day he'd finally get to talk to Mr. Snail.
He shut himself in a studio where no one else was allowed, spending all his time there except when he ate or slept. From outside the door, you could faintly hear the whirring and cutting of machinery. After more than a month, with piles of scraps accumulating in the room, he finally saw the fruits of his labor.
On a soft single bed, a handsome man with gentle features felt the sunlight on his eyelids. His thick eyelashes fluttered, and he opened his eyes to a somewhat blurry ornamental ceiling.
At that moment, Bai Renshu was sitting beside him with a book in his hands. He hadn't turned a page in ages, only smiled at the bewildered man.
He concealed the fine, tough threads that were almost impossible to see, then moved his fingertips, satisfied as the man's gaze immediately cleared.
"You're awake? Good."
