Dream of the Red Chamber: Jia Baoyu Is Reborn

Lin Daiyu is gone.

At last, the dazed and confused Jia Baoyu came to his senses.

He couldn't even protect his family or the person he loved. How could he claim to despise the traitorous officials who fed off the state?

He spent half his life as a monk, helping people everywhere, all because he wanted to reunite with his beloved.

Just as the Jia family seemed destined to fall into decline, an extraordinary Jia Baoyu appeared.

He could write essays at two, compose poetry at three, and became a young provincial graduate at ten. From then on, his path through the examinations and into officialdom was smooth sailing.

Wang Furen rose in status thanks to her son and enjoyed great prestige in the Rongguo Mansion. Yet she had one regret: her treasured son was never close to her.

Instead, he treated her archenemy, Jia Min, with great respect. Anyone who didn't know the truth would have thought Jia Baoyu was her son.

Jia Min had always been fond of her nephew Jia Baoyu, though she couldn't help feeling that he spoiled her daughter Daiyu too much.

He was only a year older than Daiyu, yet he was more attentive and considerate than she and Rulai were.

Whenever Daiyu caught a slight chill, he worried so much it was as if he had lost half his life.

If Daiyu showed him even a little temper, he would be delighted for half a year.

Note:

In this version, Jia Baoyu did not marry Bao-chai. He came to his senses after Lin Daiyu died, before the wedding ceremony.

To renew their bond, he became a monk and spent his life doing good deeds.

After being reborn, his personality changed drastically. He sat the imperial examinations, became an official, and took an active role in securing control of his family. No one dared interfere with or stand in his way anymore.

He married Lin Daiyu. The two had no children, as Jia Baoyu could not bear the pain of losing her and had already taken medicine to prevent it.
