He was the one who said:
"Yongjia, if there's any man under heaven you take a liking to, just tell your imperial brother."
He was also the one who said:
"Yongjia, Eldest Princess, is wanton by nature, has violated the rites and usurped the throne. Remove her from the imperial clan, strip her of her fief, and demote her to a commoner."
And he was still the one who said:
"...Bear my child, and I will spare you the death penalty for treason."
(Extended synopsis)
Xiao Mojun later learned that on the day she was imprisoned for treason, Xiao Jun sat alone in his study all night without closing his eyes.
Her imperial brother, who had always been composed and steady for as long as she could remember, had actually spent a whole night unable to sleep.
The shadows beneath his eyes when he saw her the next day came from that night.
How absurd that she had still thought she was the Yongjia Princess, spoiled by imperial favor and wielding power unchecked, as willful as ever. She had demanded to know why he had waited until the next day to see her.
Xiao Jun did not answer.
Only when the eunuch beside them began reading out her crimes did she finally wake from her dream. What sibling affection? What relying on each other to survive? In the imperial family, all of it was no more than a fragile sheet of paper.
The brother who had raised her with his own hands and watched her marry now wanted to punish her... to kill her!
She panicked.
Later, she tried every possible way out. Her subordinates were doomed, while the men who had once fawned at her feet now changed their tune and wanted nothing to do with her.
With nowhere else to turn, she could only follow the terrible advice of the one blind old woman by her side and go back to curry favor with Xiao Jun.
When she saw Xiao Jun again, she spoke of their many memories, admitted to all kinds of wrongs, and gazed at him through tear-filled eyes.
But Xiao Jun remained completely unmoved.
He merely looked down at her, half his face shrouded in shadow, and said indifferently:
"Don't you know how to beg? Didn't I teach you?"
She had committed treason when he loved her most, then climbed into his bed when he hated her most.
Good emperor x bad princess.
(This is probably written purely to indulge a kink. It's extremely melodramatic, and the setting is very loose. Warnings: The female lead fails to seize power and is imprisoned. She is arrogant and on top of the world in the early part, then suffers and is abused in the latter half. The male lead has had no previous partners; the female lead has. The male lead is truly a saintly, desireless man, with only a base desire for the female lead. The female lead is unruly and highly lustful, and never holds back. There are n past relationships that were one-on-one; n > 3. The male lead loves her deeply, while the female lead has no feelings for him at first (but eventually develops them).
They are not blood-related. Their relationship is purely familial at first (and hateful, too). Although this is an angsty story, the female lead's life is much like that of an ordinary imperial concubine's (the male lead is utterly devoted to her). Their sexual relationship begins only after she becomes a commoner and actively seduces him.
