The Substitute Alpha Awakens

On her way to a friend's birthday party, Jiang Lu awakened to the truth.

She was a pawn in a campus romance novel.

In the book, she spends a year as a stand-in for the person Su Mengrui loves.

During that year, she's kept in a lightless cage, forced to release pheromones, and has her gland cut open so Su Mengrui can mark her. She's injected with over a hundred high-concentration suppressants, suffers so much pain that she begs for death several times, and has her gland removed. She almost never wakes up again.

She's still grateful, all because Su Mengrui promises not to hurt her only family member.

Only when she's tossed aside like a piece of rotten meat in front of a waste treatment plant does she learn that the Jiang family has gone bankrupt and Jiang Wen has died of heart failure.

Meanwhile, the Song family has risen to success on the Jiang family's ruin.

Jiang Lu has known Song Wushuang for four years. They've been close and inseparable, and Jiang Lu thought they'd be best friends for life.

She never imagined that, in the end, she was nothing but a meal for Song Wushuang and a stepping stone.

The year she spent struggling and fighting back only served as an emotional test for the female leads, Su Mengrui and Chu Ziyan, and helped push them into falling deeply in love. She was just one more villain to be defeated.

And Song Wushuang used everything Jiang Lu had to get into the school Jiang Lu had always dreamed of attending.

As for Jiang Lu, her story ends in the summer she turns eighteen.

Jiang Lu: ????

Did someone hand out a script? Is this an open-book test?

Jiang Lu turns around and goes home.

Stand-in, stepping stone, all of it can go to hell! From now on, no one gets to covet anything of hers!

And anyone who wants to hurt her won't get away!

Later, Su Mengrui dreams of getting engaged to Jiang Lu. She is even willing to give up her position as heir to the family, just to replace her beloved, idealized fiancee.

But as soon as she returns from breaking off the engagement, her cousin Bai Yue walks up to Grandma with Jiang Lu's fingers interlaced in hers.

Su Mengrui goes mad. "Big Sis? Who did you just say she was?"

Bai Yue sweeps her hair back, revealing the white patch on the back of her neck. Her red lips curve into a smile. "My Alpha."

With the wrong script in hand, Jiang Lu had no intention of getting involved with the Su family. But this time, she also wants to experience what it's like to be a 100% pheromone match.

As it happens, they are a perfect match for each other.
