A new, shy, delicate-looking beauty joins Aoba Johsai's recruitment season. He's got his own fan club barely a week into the school year. Everyone expects him to join the string orchestra, but to their surprise, he smiles and kicks open the volleyball club's door.
His seemingly frail body conceals brutally aggressive skills. But even more despairing than his play is the venom he spits from that angelic face.
"Hey, where's the genius you were talking about? I'm sleepy. I have no interest in sticking around with cannon fodder."
Asahina sincerely voices his confusion. He's already arrogant enough, isn't he? How did Aoba Johsai make it to the finals without the protagonist showing up to turn him into cannon fodder?!
"Seriously, Asahina becomes a different person as soon as he steps onto the court," a teammate says, covering his face.
"Even like this, Ki is pretty cute. Hey, Ki, perk up! If you fall asleep at the nationals, I'll bury you in my backyard, I swear!" Aoba Johsai's captain says with a beaming smile. "This time, the monster genius is on our side."
After racking his brains and still failing to become cannon fodder, Asahina Ki decides to follow his childhood friend into soccer instead.
Having learned on the volleyball court that teamwork is the name of the game, Asahina Ki resolves to become an arrogant cannon fodder who refuses to cooperate and only looks out for himself.
Inside the enclosed soccer training facility known as Blue Lock, the seemingly delicate black-haired beauty is an absolute tyrant. Through overwhelming physical and psychological force, he makes everyone submit.
"What a pain. Cannon fodder should know their place. You made me think my protagonist had finally shown up... If you get the script wrong again, I'll really kill you."
His white-haired childhood friend, with a beauty mark under his eye, helplessly explains on Asahina Ki's behalf: "Ki is a very kind person. Please don't misunderstand him."
Everyone: You call that kind?!
