I Woke Up to Find the World Had Changed

[The main story turned out very differently from what I expected. On top of that, I've been busy preparing for exams, and I'm serializing another story next door, so this one will be on hiatus for a while. When I come back, I'll replace the entire text in one go. The premise won't change.]

Ji Rong had slept in her own tomb for over a thousand years, quite dead and perfectly at peace. Then one day, a hapless group of grave robbers somehow stumbled upon her home and robbed her tomb.

Ji Rong, forced to see the light of day again: ...Where the heck have they brought her?

The world had changed beyond recognition. In this new age, iron boxes flew through the sky, people carried handheld phones, and blonde, blue-eyed foreign demons chattered away openly in the streets.

Not only that, she had been a pampered princess of Great Zhou before closing her eyes. Now that she had woken up, she was a feudal relic everyone wanted to beat down.

Ji Rong was thoroughly confused.

The world had changed overnight. Even an old relic needed sunshine, so she decided to dust herself off and go out to bask in the glorious sunlight of this world.

And, while she was at it, track down some unruly household pets that had slipped out when the tomb doors were thrown open.

After a heavy rain, an unprecedentedly vast ancient tomb was discovered in the outskirts of Z City. Its structure and furnishings indicated that it was a royal mausoleum from the Zhou Dynasty, but the tomb's owner had mysteriously vanished.

At the same time, strange incidents were occurring throughout the city.

A special occult team was sent to Z City to investigate. Its captain, Zhang Jingqiu, was young, but the strongest candidate to become a Celestial Master in the Celestial Masters' Mansion in nearly a century.

As soon as the special team arrived in Z City, they discovered that a group of grave robbers had visited the tomb before the archaeological team. Following the clues, they were shocked to learn that every member of the group had either died or been maimed in the past two weeks, except for one, who was still safe and sound.

Following the trail to the grave robber's home, Zhang Jingqiu immediately spotted a beautiful young woman who looked utterly out of place in the drab surroundings.

Zhang Jingqiu: "Who are you?"

Ji Rong: "Reporting to the officer, this man is a villain who has done every evil under the sun. I'm an innocent girl he kidnapped."

Zhang Jingqiu: "But you were just ordering him to bring you tea and cut up a watermelon."

Ji Rong: "Uh..."

Ji Rong: "All right, I'm not a kidnapped girl. I'm a kidnapped relic."

Zhang Jingqiu: "...?"

[The heroine is a half-human, half-ghost princess with iron-hard fists and an insatiable curiosity. The hero is a cool, sharp-eyed Celestial Master who's hard-mouthed but soft-hearted, with excellent homemaking skills.]

A few things to know before reading:

1. An ancient person travels to the modern day. This isn't a typical occult story, and should lean more toward the strange creatures of the Classic of Mountains and Seas.

2. The heroine's understanding of modern life is inconsistent, sometimes deep and sometimes shallow. She'll need quite a while to fully adjust to modern society, so she'll say some shocking things from time to time, lol. Please don't be too hard on her.

3. This is a fictional setting. This Zhou isn't the historical Zhou Dynasty, and the story is entirely made up. The blurb and title were written with my feet. The author is a despairing illiterate, and the research and made-up details have become so jumbled that I no longer know what anything means. Don't get too caught up in the worldbuilding.
