Nothing Special, Just Flying a Plane

Mixed-Blood Genius Pilot × Elite Air Traffic Controller Filthy-Rich, Curly-Haired, Blunt Romantic × Clear-Headed, Cool, and Savvy Office Worker _ Xu Yan is the youngest shift supervisor in the Zhengzhou control room. Every day, he directs all the aircraft in his airspace, seeing them safely on their way and welcoming them in. The work is complicated and extremely stressful, and the hours are often upside down. Plenty of his colleagues are already going bald in their twenties, teetering on the edge between quitting and meeting the King of Hell. Only Xu Yan still has a full head of hair. Born to work himself to the bone, he went from air traffic control trainee to fully qualified controller in just a year and a half, then became a rising star at the North China Air Traffic Control Bureau after two and a half years. Later, thanks to his outstanding all-around abilities, he was transferred to the Zhengzhou Air Traffic Control Bureau to build things up from scratch. He stayed for six years, working his colleagues into the ground and outlasting his bosses, until he became Director Xu, famous and feared by everyone at the Zhengzhou Air Traffic Control Bureau. Director Xu is proper and serious, cool-headed and self-controlled. He is strict with his staff and shows no mercy to outsiders, so he isn't exactly popular. But Pan Yu isn't exactly a normal person, and he hasn't done many normal things either. He likes the cool and aloof Director Xu, and when it comes to pursuing someone, he wants to make a grand spectacle of it. Xu Yan admitted, "I like well-behaved ones." Pan Yu leaned in, letting Xu's hands wind around the choker at his neck. He whistled, smiling seductively in the dazzling lights. "Director Xu, give it a try." Pan Yu loves the blue sky and his freedom, so he became a pilot. The past decade and more had been happy, passionate, and carefree. Then he returned to China and became a commercial airline pilot. Air traffic controllers kept asking him to write incident statements and join them in preparing accident reports, and writing Chinese nearly drove him to a breakdown. "Can I write it in English?" At least there'd be fewer strokes to write. Director Xu was quite merciless. "No, foreign devil." Pan Yu threw down his pen on the spot, clutching the hair he'd just dyed as he protested to air traffic control, "I'm not a foreign devil! Look, my hair is black, black!" Xu Yan gave it a perfunctory glance, couldn't be bothered to call him out, and ignored him. Pan Yu's eyes reddened with anger. Grumbling and swearing, he picked up his pen and wrote another Chinese report. "Damn, this is so frustrating." Xu Yan took the scribble he'd produced. A hint of mockery appeared on his cool, distant face. "That's the only thing you can say..." A breeze stirred the paper, revealing a line of French tucked at the very bottom, written with elegant flair. "Si tu m’apprivoises, nous aurons besoin l’un de l’autre." Xu Yan fell silent, his cool face giving nothing away. The curly-haired man, who had been pouting just moments ago, now smiled unabashedly. His hand remained at his neck, his expression bold and confident. "Director Xu, really, won't you give it a try?" Pan Yu × Xu Yan Thanks to my dear angel He Hua for the inspiration for this blurb, mwah~ Reading Guide: 1. I'm not a professional, just writing what I want to read. Professionals may want to steer clear. 2. The French in the blurb is from The Little Prince: "If you tame me, we will need each other." 3. The entire novel has been revised. All airlines are fictional. I chose a city in Henan because I love my hometown deeply, but the air traffic control bureau in this story has no relation to the real one. Please don't conflate them! 4. Thanks for your support. Love you all, mwah~ Theme: Stay optimistic and live with confidence.
