It does sound like a pretty good idea. She wants to recover her memories. She wants to know who is trying to kill her, if only she weren't being forced to live with a vampire.
It takes a very long time for Lucien to understand why she was drawn to this person.
They are alike. Both are tools in someone else's hands, fighting for others, living for others, and dying for others. Neither has ever had a life of her own.
But in this life, she wants to escape that fate.
Lucien pins Shen Leyuan against the wall, just as she did when they first met. Memories flash wildly before her eyes, screaming at her to kill Shen Leyuan.
She leans toward the neck of her former enemy once more. Her reason is being violently pulled in every direction. Her fangs press against soft, vulnerable skin, but she still cannot bring herself to bite.
