The Substitute and the Villain

After a car accident, Lin Yuanchen opened his eyes and felt that either something was wrong with his brain or his eyes were about to quit on him.

Everyone he looked at had words floating above their heads.

The nurse passing by was labeled [Irrelevant Supporting Character], his college friend [Major Supporting Character], the kid he tutored [Minor Villain], and the dog belonging to the kid’s family [Important Supporting Character on the Villain’s Side].

Lin Yuanchen closed his eyes. When he turned around, he saw his cheating ex-boyfriend with a golden [Protagonist] floating above his head, while his arranged-marriage partner approached with [Villain] over his head.

Things are looking bad. Run! Lin Yuanchen turned and bolted.

“Wait!” The Villain smiled at him and took a little box from his pocket.

“Mr. Lin, would you consider marrying me? A real marriage or a fake one, either works.”

Lin Yuanchen closed his eyes, trying to faint.

“Mr. Lin? Mr. Lin? You really don’t want to marry me?” The Villain sang his own praises. “I’m great value for money!”

Lin Yuanchen took a deep breath. “You’re a Villain.”

The Villain said, “I like you.”

Lin Yuanchen took half a step back, trying to remind him: “You’re a Villain!”

The Villain said, “Who says a Villain can’t fall in love?”

That made so much sense! Lin Yuanchen was almost convinced.

He grabbed the Villain’s hand and shook it hard. “Dude! You’re a Villain!” Aren’t you supposed to destroy the world, be cold and arrogant, and bankrupt the protagonist with a snap of your fingers?

“That would be illegal.” The Villain looked at Lin Yuanchen curiously. “Who gets to decide who’s a protagonist and who’s a Villain?”

This world was crazy, Lin Yuanchen thought, but he wasn’t exactly in his right mind either.

“Fine!” He nodded. “Let’s get married!”

They’re both very direct.

A few notes from the author:

1. Set in a fictional world, with lots of original ABO worldbuilding.

2. Older top, one-on-one, mutual devotion, both are each other’s first and only, lighthearted and silly comedy.

3. Some topics involve fields the author isn’t familiar with. Please point out any mistakes in the comments.

4. Fictional story with no real-life inspiration. There will be a crossover with another novel later.

Theme: Take life seriously. Everyone is the protagonist of their own life.
