Su Mo'er never imagined that the fiance she'd abandoned would come back alive.
Five years ago, they were both servants in the household. They fell for each other in secret and agreed to marry at the end of the year, but she turned around and married the eldest young master instead.
The world fell into chaos, and fate played its tricks. Five years later, he had become the ruler of his own fief, while she was offered up as a gift to his bed.
"You're selfish and calculating, scheming at every turn. Did you ever think the day might come when you'd fall into my hands?"
Ning Zhenshan ran his fingers over her cheek, his gaze dark, as if his hatred for her was so deep he wanted to drink her blood and devour her flesh.
Faced with a life-or-death crisis, she naturally played along to win a chance to live. She also expected him to take his revenge by torturing her mercilessly.
She never expected him to torment her like this.
Her hand, clutching the bed curtains, had gone limp, but the man behind her still wouldn't stop. Fragrant scents drifted through the air. Sweat slicked her skin. As she drifted toward sleep, she heard him ask:
"Where's the bastard you had with the eldest young master?"
Su Mo'er jolted.
"Don't you dare touch him, or I'll make you regret it!"
Ning Zhenshan sneered, planning to find the little brat and kill him.
But later, when that pesky little brat was brought before him, the more he looked, the more something seemed off.
"Who's your father?" Ning Zhenshan asked, looking at the boy's face, which looked half like his own.
"My dad is dead!" the boy shouted, his eyes red, then bit Ning Zhenshan hard on the arm.
Ning Zhenshan smiled.
So cold and heartless, as if carved from the very same mold as him.
No one knew that all the joy and sorrow he'd experienced in this life were just a facade. He was a monster with no feelings, an outsider indifferent to everything.
Until he met Su Mo'er.
She was the one fate had chosen for him, the woman he'd searched for in a frenzy for five years, and the shackle that bound the monster.

Coming soon: Don't Pick Up Men
Mother said, "Never pick up a man from the roadside."
Because Zhao Xiaoguo's father had been unconscious by the roadside when her mother found him and took him home. But her father abandoned his wife and child and returned to the capital, never to come back. Her mother died heartbroken, clutching Zhao Xiaoguo's hand as she repeatedly warned her:
Never pick up a man from the roadside.
So when Zhao Xiaoguo comes down the mountain after picking mushrooms and sees someone lying there, she doesn't think twice before stepping right over him. But then he grabs her ankle.
"...Help..."
Zhao Xiaoguo screams, kicks him, and runs away.
Still, later Zhao Xiaoguo brings him home. Munching on the silver ingots he gave her, she declares, "You'd better not fall for me. This is just a simple business arrangement! My destined match is to the south, not here. What do I do? Can't you tell?"
Turtle shells, animal bones, deer antlers...
He takes his eyes off them and says slowly, "You're a hunter."
"Pah!" Zhao Xiaoguo puts her hands on her hips and scolds him for not recognizing a real expert, then thumps her chest and declares that she's a fortune-teller. "Want me to read your fortune? Just five copper coins."
He lowers his eyes, remembering that when she'd read fortunes for the villagers earlier, she'd only charged them two eggs.
Greedy, boastful, simple-minded... She's just a con artist, and the sort of person who's easy to manipulate.
But Xu Churen never imagined that in the end, he'd be the one getting manipulated.
Theme: Protect what matters and persevere.
