Flirting with the Male Lead in a Period Novel

[Saving up bookmarks]

After living for over a decade, Chen Tinghe finally discovers that he's the villainous supporting character in a period novel.

The male lead is Xu Zhixing, a young intellectual from a fallen family who has been sent down to their village.

Chen Tinghe is smitten at first sight. Seeing how handsome the male lead is, he uses his position as the son of the brigade leader to threaten and tempt him, forcing him into a relationship.

The male lead hates his whole family to the core. After lying low for two years, he takes his revenge on them with a vengeance.

When Chen Tinghe's memories awaken, he's pinning the male lead down in a cornfield, planning to force himself on him.

Chen Tinghe: If I stand still and take my punishment now, can I still turn over a new leaf?

The male lead is tall, long-legged, and graceful. At this moment, he's mortified beyond words, glaring at Chen Tinghe with anger, resentment, and hatred.

Chen Tinghe: ...? How the hell am I supposed to turn over a new leaf now?

With the thought that he might as well go all in, Chen Tinghe doubles down and thoroughly "humiliates" the male lead.

Two years later, knowing how the story ends, Chen Tinghe decides to part ways with the male lead and lie flat, accepting whatever revenge he has coming.

But the male lead, who has never treated him kindly, instead pursues him and insists that he take responsibility for the rest of his life.

Chen Tinghe is baffled, then has an epiphany: So even a melon forced off the vine can turn out sweet!

[Note: In the original story, the male lead has no romantic pairing.]
