Zhao Xiazhi was born into an unknown dynasty. When she was five, one disaster after another struck, and she could only stumble along with the refugees.

Floods, extreme cold, extreme heat, plague...

Five years later, the disasters came to an end, and the turbulent world finally settled down. The people of Little Zhao Village put down roots in Huaian County.

The land was cracked and dry, their homes had only half a mud wall, the river had dried up, and most of the trees on the hills were dead. Life was terribly hard for the refugees from Little Zhao Village.

Looking at her family, so hungry they were little more than skin and bones, Zhao Xiazhi's mother roared, "If Heaven can't kill us, then we'll make something of our lives!"

After the disasters, every family was struggling, except for the second branch of the Zhao family.

When they drew lots for houses and farmland, Zhao Xiazhi happened to draw the best brick house. A little wooden box turned up in the field she drew.

Even when she went up the mountain to gather firewood with her mother, she found wild chicken eggs in a pile of weeds.

Thanks to her eerily good luck, Zhao Xiazhi gradually filled out. Her family raised chickens and piglets, and soon they were among the best-off households in the village.

From having nothing to living well after the disasters, with plenty of everyday family life.
