Luo Sang, a college student, discovers a strange part-time job: being a deity. In keeping with his belief in science, he decides to read people's wishes and reply with whatever comes to mind, enjoying a carefree life on the clock.
His first wish: [I hope I make a fortune.]
Luo Sang: You'll be laid off and get 20,000 yuan in compensation.
That's so mean, but messing with people is so much fun.
His second wish: [I hope I pass the civil service exam.]
Luo Sang is mean again: You pass, but your salary is only 2,000 yuan.
His third wish: [I hope my business succeeds.]
Luo Sang gets even meaner: It succeeds, but you're too busy to date.
His fourth wish: [I hope I find a partner.]
At last, Luo Sang's heart softens: Your childhood friend will confess to you.
Then, in the very next second... he finds himself standing in front of his childhood friend, who just launched a successful business, holding flowers and a love letter, utterly bewildered.
The other man stares for a second, then smiles.
The 191-centimeter-tall man before him is so imposing that Luo Sang instinctively takes a step back, his mind going blank. Wait, this actually works?
Help, help, help! How did I end up getting myself into this?
And the person I messed with is my sworn enemy, the one I've been trading insults with since childhood!
With a size difference this huge, won't he have me skinned alive, turned into crispy pork belly, wrapped in a little pancake, and eaten?
Shi Yan discovers an online wish-granting website that's supposedly incredibly effective.
So he wishes to make a fortune.
The next day, he's laid off and gets 20,000 yuan in compensation.
Shi Yan: "?"
How come this wish comes with a consolation prize?
Unemployed, Shi Yan messages his childhood friend to complain, only to be ruthlessly mocked. Undeterred, he makes another wish and goes to take the civil service exam.
He passes, but his salary isn't enough to support even himself.
Shi Yan is ruthlessly mocked again.
Shi Yan is very depressed.
Then one day, after years apart, his childhood friend calls him. He sounds drunk, his voice soft: "It's raining so hard, Shi Yan."
Shi Yan feels a strange flutter in his heart. "Where are you?"
The other man's words are slurred, but his indignation is crystal clear: "...You jerk, did you hide my umbrella again?"
The drunkard rambles on without giving him a single clue to his location, yet Shi Yan inexplicably drives for three hours through the night, crossing provincial borders to pick him up.
When he finds him, the other man is bleary-eyed, replying to Shi Yan's latest wish: "Your business will succeed, but you'll be too busy to date!"
Shi Yan: "..."
Well, well, well. It's an honor to finally meet you. So you're the crazy little deity who grants wishes but doesn't provide after-sales service!
The newly appointed CEO, already run off his feet during the early days of his business, laughs in sheer exasperation, his gaze darkening as he lifts the man up with one hand.
Finally, I've got you.
Looks like... it's time to make some more interesting wishes.
After "bringing the mean little deity to justice," Shi Yan starts making wishes again:
[I thought of a new position. I wish you'd play along.]
[I haven't had enough. I wish we could go again tonight.]
[I want to watch you swallow it. I wish I could see that.]
His little deity had been trembling in his arms, but at those words, he opens his eyes wide and glares at Shi Yan in shock. Without a word, he crawls forward, still shaking.
What a disaster! Whoever wants to be a deity can have the job!
