Soaring to the Azure Heavens

People strive for higher ground, while water flows downhill. Wen Chenxue wanted to climb the ladder more than anyone.

He was the emperor's lapdog. Yesterday, he conducted inspections; today, he confiscated estates; tomorrow, he would carry out executions at the scaffold. Whoever the emperor wanted dead, Wen Chenxue would cut down.

A fire blazing at its height will soon die down, and flowers in full bloom will soon wither.

The old emperor fell gravely ill. To pave the way for the new emperor, Wen Chenxue went from trusted confidant to stray dog, kicked aside by the dying ruler.

When the tree falls, the monkeys scatter. Everyone waited to see Wen Chenxue suffer the consequences of his own actions, but somehow he walked out of prison once more.

The new emperor needed his own attack dogs, too.

Though scholars cursed him and veteran ministers of three reigns wept, Ning Shuo insisted on showering Wen Chenxue with unparalleled favor.
