"Zhou Ze'an, let's break up."
In high school, Rong Sui was a cold, solitary girl with no friends, while Zhou Ze'an was a campus kingpin, the pampered heir whom everyone adored.
No one understood why he kept pursuing her, and no one believed his passion could last. So when she asked to break up, she did it decisively.
Zhou Ze'an still wore his carefree smile and said nonchalantly, "Sure. My life will be just as exciting without you."
When they met again, their stations in life were worlds apart.
He was a top racing driver, speeding across the track in front of the cameras, as well as the heir to a conglomerate worth billions. She was just an ordinary employee forced to curry favor for the sake of a project.
In other people's eyes, they were strangers. Aside from work, no one would have thought they had any personal connection, until she prepared to withdraw from the project.
He had been the one to say it was just an insignificant little business deal, yet he cornered her against the wall, deep-seated obsession and malice in his eyes.
"You broke up with me just like that back then, and now you're just walking away? Rong Sui, did you think you could throw me away like trash?"
Everyone was stunned.
That arrogant, unruly Zhou Ze'an, who had always treated everything like a game, pinned her tightly in his arms and kissed her fiercely.

Work kept them tied together, and they often stayed up late checking details. Some said Rong Sui was just a parasitic vine trying to climb a high branch, deliberately clinging to Zhou Ze'an with some ulterior motive.
When he heard the gossip, his expression turned icy. The pen in his hand clattered to the floor, and he laughed scornfully.
"Climbing a high branch? You've got it backwards. I was the one chasing after her back then. She dumped me. Who do you people think you are, talking about her like that?"
Rong Sui was the highest, proudest branch. Zhou Ze'an couldn't reach her, but couldn't bear to let her go.
He was more than happy to revolve around her.
-
Zhou Ze'an's friends from his time studying abroad all knew that when he first arrived, he spent whole nights unable to sleep, tormented and depressed. He had a white moonlight he couldn't forget, someone who was his most vulnerable point and could never be mentioned.
Later, at his wedding, someone teased him about that "white moonlight" from back then.
Zhou Ze'an put an arm around Rong Sui's waist and grinned smugly. "Oh, that white moonlight is my wife now. She'll even kiss me first in a little while."
From beginning to end, his love had never been a passing whim.
She was the one he couldn't have, the one he thought about until he was beside himself. She was the only one he had ever chosen for this life.
