This is the story of an international student with terrible English who takes all kinds of jobs and socializes in order to improve, eventually mastering 360 different trades, all except her actual studies.
-
Jiang Yunong received an offer from a university she thought was awful.
But her English wasn't good enough to understand an entire lecture, so she decided to take half a year off and study English in an all-English environment.
Most of her days during that time were spent working.
Her first job was looking after horses.
The horses bullied her.
So she cried and switched to looking after cows.
They were much more gentle.
Her second job was chopping wood at a lumber yard.
With her incredible strength, she became the lumber yard's top woman.
Then one day, she saw that the supermarket was limiting tomato purchases. Jiang Yunong got mad and gave up her high-paying jobs with the cows and at the lumber yard to pick tomatoes.
That way, she could eat fresh tomatoes every day.
Half a year later, Jiang Yunong returned with fluent English. She applied for an exchange program and chose Italy and Spain, then put Iceland down as a third country just to fill in the form.
While waiting for an email, Jiang Yunong couldn't bear to sit around doing nothing.
She walked her neighbors' dogs and became the apartment complex's dog queen.
She earned licenses for an excavator, forklift, and tractor, as well as a private pilot's license. She was a woman with six certificates.
She'd performed on the street.
She'd shown off her cooking in group chats.
She'd sheared sheep on a ranch.
She'd learned to use a hunting rifle on the grasslands.
She'd delivered food in the middle of the night.
She'd learned blacksmithing in a factory.
She'd dabbled in all 360 trades.
As long as she was alive, she kept making money.
As long as studying didn't kill her, she'd study herself to death.
There was no sun in London today, and her mood was just as gloomy.
She'd been assigned to Iceland for the program, a country she'd only put down to make up the numbers.
Even worse, her major was taught entirely in Icelandic.
What could she do?
A different field is like a different world. She wished herself luck.
“I really want to stab this gloomy sky.”
P.S.:
A purely comedic story, with no substance. Occasionally inspiring, mostly unhinged.
Aspiring to become an all-around international student with eight sides (wishful thinking).
