From as far back as he could remember, Yu Ye had noticed that something about this world was out of the ordinary.
For example, every evening at dinner time, the unfamiliar parents who brought steaming dishes out of the kitchen would call cheerfully for him to wash his hands and eat. Then they would transform into monsters, covered in countless eyes, writhing and crawling around.
Hundreds, even thousands, of hollow, lifeless eyes would fix on him, staring with fervent greed and fear.
Once they realized he had noticed, they would split their mouths into gentle smiles, their crimson tongues nearly covering the dining table.
Yu Ye calmly lowered his head and took a sip of soup.
Hmm, not bad.
He had long since gotten used to it, though he was still a little troubled by how these inexplicable monsters always tried to cling to him.
The girl at school who gave him a love letter grew a third head. The upperclassman who invited him to walk home together always liked to press his sharp, vampire-like canines against the soft, pale nape of Yu Ye's neck when he was distracted. The school nurse would slip her cold stethoscope deep beneath his collar while examining him.
"Sorry, I'm not looking for a relationship." He calmly handed the love letter back.
"You shouldn't do that, senpai." He smiled as he stopped the upperclassman from crossing the line.
"Teacher, is your hand in the wrong place?" he asked, tilting his head in confusion.
It was not until he was dragged into a terrifying otherworld that he learned everything he had seen before was merely the tip of the iceberg.
But his knack for attracting monsters had not changed.
A little tentacle he had casually fed crunched the bones in its mouth, then arranged a bright red heart from the bloodied remains and shyly offered it to him.
?
Yu Ye helplessly poked the slick, soft tentacle. "Stop fooling around."
The pink little tentacle quivered, then reluctantly wrapped itself around the exposed part of his ankle.
Later, at some point, a legend began circulating throughout the infinite-flow game instances, passed from player to player.
A seemingly aloof and distant top who is actually a natural, unwitting charmer adored by everyone.
Note:
1. The top is beloved not only by monsters but by countless players as well. However, he is face-blind and cannot remember people, so he is often mistaken for a cold, handsome heartthrob.
2. The top is at the center of everyone's attention. He is powerful, and there are plenty of romantic rivals.
3. Slightly Lovecraftian infinite-flow game instances. The protagonist does not join any faction and belongs to no side; he only cooperates with others briefly.
Theme: Let me think about it.
