[Aaaaaah, I love this idea for a corrupted Morax storyline so much!!! I couldn't wait to post it! Don't copy it, please! I've taken screenshots for safekeeping.]
Blurb:
Astaroth was born as the Night God. When the underground people she protected reached the brink of extinction,
she had no choice but to set foot on the land of Morax, the Geo God, hoping to seize his power and save her own life.
On the first day, dressed in a white gown, she pretended to be a frail young woman and stumbled at his feet. Morax ignored her.
On the second day, she turned into a lively, adorable little girl, grabbed his sleeve curiously, and asked him to adopt her. Morax frowned and pulled his sleeve free.
On the third day, she turned into an elegant young man of refined manners and shyly offered him some freshly picked wild fruit.
Morax looked at her for an unusually long time, then warned her, "Stop this pointless pestering."
On the fourth day, she gave up on pretending. She revealed her own stunningly seductive form, broke into Morax's cavern in the middle of the night, and prepared to take him by force.
Morax looked helplessly at the bewitching goddess clinging to his leg. "What exactly are you trying to do, Astaroth?"
What? Why did he recognize who she was?
Astaroth sprang up, glared at Morax, and ground her teeth in anger. A moment later, a look of hurt crossed her beautiful, cold face.
After wandering through Morax's territory for the past few days, she had learned that crops were grown in vast fields and could grow just by basking in the sunlight.
The people living there were so harmonious and kind. When they saw her alone in the village, they thoughtfully asked if she had gotten lost.
Why were they both gods, yet she had to live underground in the dark, ruling barren land and savage subjects for a thousand years, only for her people to perish in the end?
It just wasn't fair!
She hated Morax!
But she had no choice but to submit and curry favor with him. She really wanted to live.
The words, Let me become your consort, caught in her throat. She couldn't say them.
"You're so annoying!"
Astaroth spat out the words and vanished.
Hmph. She'd take each day as it came. Better to live miserably than die well.
So she settled on the outskirts of Morax's territory. She had intended to hide her identity, but somehow she ended up saving a few people who had been trapped by monsters.
They were so grateful that they revered her as a god. She was one, of course, but she was still a little afraid Morax might get angry, so she firmly turned them down.
That night, Morax happened to pass by while patrolling his territory.
Feeling his powerful presence, Astaroth's hair stood on end. Was her time finally up?
She dressed neatly, walked up to Morax with a calm expression, ready to die, and said:
"Go ahead. I understand that one territory can't hold two gods."
After saying this, she smiled bitterly. She looked back on the thousand years behind her and found nothing to regret. She had always done her best.
"I don't mind," Morax said indifferently.
"Huh?"
Astaroth immediately wilted. "Then why did you come looking for me today?"
"Though I don't mind, this is still my territory. I came to patrol it," Morax said, not understanding her confusion.
Annoying. He was so annoying!
He was such a calm and polite god that he made her seem like a bumpkin, as if all she knew was fighting and killing.
She didn't feel like talking anymore, so she vanished.
Since Morax didn't mind,
she began occasionally using her power to help the villagers nearby, though she still wouldn't let them worship her.
After some time, Astaroth felt her power fading faster and faster. Her body grew heavy, and she didn't even want to go outside. Then she fell asleep.
Morax interrupted her long slumber. Looking at her nearly transparent body, he said briefly:
"The Archon War has begun."
It took her a long time to wake her mind. Then she asked:
"So what does that have to do with me?"
"Hunt the other gods and replenish your power."
"Won't I be the one getting hunted instead?"
"Come with me."
In the end, Astaroth became Morax's consort. She even received half of his divine heart without seizing the Geo Archon's divine authority. Of course, he allowed it.
Then she faked her death.
Morax was utterly baffled and searched the whole world for her over and over.
Astaroth thought he was hunting her, so she hid wherever she could. Later, the power in half a divine heart proved too weak to keep her active, so she fell into a self-preserving slumber.
She woke up several times along the way, deliberately leaving a few cryptic words in Liyue before vanishing again, until Morax lost his temper.
At last, 3,700 years after Liyue was founded, Morax caught Astaroth.
She protested indignantly:
"How can the mighty Geo Archon be so petty?"
"I really ought to show you what being petty means."
Morax's eyes flickered, his anger suppressed.
She had been the one to flirt with him first. Then she took half his divine heart and disappeared.
It was only a single divine heart. Why couldn't she have simply asked him for it? She had made him chase her for thousands of years.
The heroine is probably a goddess with a persecution complex, cute on the inside and beautiful on the outside.
I'll take it slow and see how the bookmarks go. Anyway, I had a great time writing the blurb (pouting).
