The Song family had a hand in the Xiao family's bankruptcy.

When Xiao Suo came to demand money, Song En said, "We didn't take a single thing from you."

She was wearing pajamas embroidered with his name and playing with his old phone, looking thoroughly smug.

Some time later, the Song family's scandals came to light, and the whole family moved away.

Song En didn't make it out. Xiao Suo caught her.

He turned her backpack upside down and pulled out a notebook. She refused to hand it over.

He opened it anyway. The first page read, in bold: Song En loves Xiao Suo.

Song En would never forget the look on Xiao Suo's face, like he'd just eaten shit.

He tossed the notebook aside, his face flushed, and asked what kind of trick she was playing.

Song En sighed. "Ah, you found out." Her expression was just as smug as before.

They were stuck together, a couple living in abject poverty.

The future was uncertain. One thing was certain: there was no love between them.

They were stepping-stones to each other's success, and living together was a clever way to settle their accounts.

Song En asked, "Is tormenting each other really fun?"

Xiao Suo said, "It's a lot of fun."

If you're ten parts annoying, you'll get twelve parts payback.
