Since neither of them has much shame, other people summed them up bluntly: a match made in heaven!
Sheng Qianjing was too dense and only thought of A Jing as a friend.
But whenever other people saw the two of them together, they always assumed they were a couple.
Sheng Qianjing: "Don't make things up."
After A Jing went missing, Sheng Qianjing tried to find him but had no luck, then fell into a self-imposed slumber.
Much later, he woke up and met Ci Yi.
Sheng Qianjing: "Oh! The beloved's stand-in!"
Ci Yi kept his identity secret, but couldn't be bothered to hide it very well. As a result, everyone except Sheng Qianjing more or less knew who he was.
After deliberately putting on an act that got Sheng Qianjing hurt, Ci Yi was consumed by guilt and finally decided to tell him everything himself.
But when Sheng Qianjing brought up his past life, Ci Yi denied having any connection to him: "I am me, and he is him."
All he asked was that Sheng Qianjing love only him.
He sought the Divine Lord's blessing for the two of them. It was only much later that he understood why the Divine Lord had said, when granting his blessing: "May you two return to the upper realm soon."
His master had given him a hint long ago: there were two ways to return to the upper realm.
He was forced to give up the easier path to someone else.
Flames scorched him, skin was flayed and bones were wrenched from him. His fellow cultivator died, and so did he. (Happy ending, okay?)
Ci Yi remade his body, covering himself in flesh and setting his bones anew, then flooded half the Demon Realm for his sake.
But after fighting his way to the upper realm, he saw that the one following behind Sheng Qianjing was none other than a fragment of his own soul from his previous life.
He completely lost it and roared: "Stay away from him!"
