Even as Oikawa, I Still Can't Play Volleyball

Yazawa Rei was enjoying a lovely vacation in Europe when, one morning, he woke up to find himself back in Japan. Not only that, but he was now over 180 centimeters tall. Awesome! If this was a dream, he hoped it would go on forever. He was pretty happy with it, anyway. But after waking up from another nap, Yazawa Rei belatedly realized that the body he was in didn’t seem to be his, and everything around him was unfamiliar, too. Could it be...?! So shocked that he couldn’t think straight, Yazawa Rei slapped himself across the face with a loud smack, which immediately made him hear things. “Hey! Who are you? Taking over someone else’s body is bad enough, but why are you hitting me in the face?” The voice came from deep inside him, and it sounded strangely familiar. Wasn’t that his own voice?! Yazawa Rei’s eyes widened in shock, but... Your body is fine. Next second, it’s mine. They weren’t going to switch back anytime soon, so what was wrong with letting him use it for a while? Oikawa: The IH tournament is right around the corner. What do I do? Asking online, and I’m in a hurry. After their bodies swapped inexplicably several times, Yazawa Rei, who had never been much for sports, was forced to transfer to Aoba Johsai. Under pressure from a certain someone, he began an intense training regimen. Oikawa: Anyway, let’s just get through the tournament that’s right in front of us first! But the two of them made an unexpected discovery: Yazawa Rei had a surprising amount of talent. He was exactly the type Oikawa hated, but Oikawa didn’t have time to hate him now. All he wanted was to help him improve as quickly as possible and secure the last spot at the national tournament. And so, on Oikawa’s recommendation, Johsai gained a setter who could also play opposite hitter, whose performance was wildly inconsistent and depended entirely on how he felt in the moment. He could play both positions, and sometimes he was unexpectedly “reliable”~ An athlete with extraordinary talent: even starting from “zero,” he’s incredibly strong! Theme: Hard work always pays off
