[This is the next novel I'll start writing; currently building up a stockpile of chapters]
Cold, abstinent, and ruthless emperor VS a money-loving, alluring concubine who knows when to bend
For the first ten years of her life, Yao Shu thought she would be content as long as she had enough to eat and warm clothes to wear.
By a twist of fate, she became the concubine of the heir apparent, Xie Shao. After that, Yao Shu thought she would be satisfied if she had more money put aside, and servants at her beck and call.
But the heir apparent's wife was a princess of great wealth and status, the new emperor's younger sister. Even though Yao Shu was content to simply covet Xie Shao's money, she still became a thorn in the princess's side.
While Xie Shao was away leading troops, the princess prepared to settle accounts with her. Yao Shu hurriedly packed her things and seized the chance to run away.
On the road, Yao Shu lost her money and nearly got mistaken for prey and shot.
An arrow whizzed past her. Yao Shu turned around in alarm.
A young man on horseback stared at her with cold eyes.
The new emperor, Fu Ting, ruled with an iron fist. Mercurial and capricious, he had already earned a reputation as a tyrant just one year after taking the throne.
It was said that during the autumn hunt, His Majesty had brought a woman back from the hunting grounds, doted on her every day, and made her his consort.
Everyone was curious.

When Xie Shao returned and learned that Yao had gone missing by accident at the hunting grounds, he flew into a rage. His already strained relationship with his wife grew even more precarious.
At the end of the year, the emperor hosted a banquet for his ministers.
Princess Zhaoning entered the palace hoping to pour out her grievances to her imperial elder brother, only to discover that the radiant beauty laughing and chatting with him beside the imperial table was Yao Shu, dressed in palace robes.
Beside her, Xie Shao was so furious his eyes nearly bulged, and he almost crushed his cup.
