What should you do if a nonhuman creature gets attached to you?
[Story One] "The Evil God of the Ancient Temple"
Psychic, fortune-telling, ghost-catching, metaphysical female lead x the forgotten mountain god of an ancient temple
Song Xi took a job from a client whose son had apparently wandered into an ancient temple while exploring the mountains with a hiking group. Ever since he returned, something unclean had been haunting him.
To break the curse, they had to go back. Song Xi needed money, and the two hundred thousand yuan fee made it impossible for her to stay calm.
In the remote wilderness, a thick fog suddenly rolled in.
Following some unseen guidance, Song Xi arrived at a dilapidated shrine. The place that should have been under a god's protection had somehow become a den for mountain spirits and wandering ghosts, its air thick with resentment.
A vengeful ghost lashed Song Xi with its hair, flinging her into the shrine. Blood from her wound accidentally smeared the statue's cheek.
A young man in white robes, with ink-black hair and dignified, cool features, suddenly appeared in the curling incense smoke. The next moment, all the ghosts in the shrine scattered in panic.
Song Xi watched as the handsome young man licked the specks of blood from the corner of his mouth. Everything about him seemed strange, until a faint, satisfied smile finally appeared on his lips.
"Offer me your soul, and I can grant you three wishes."
Song Mu: Is this really a proper god?!
[Story Two] "The Butcher on a Rainy Night"
Overworked office drone x tentacled monster with a nurturing, motherly streak
After graduating, Su Xing took a job as a caretaker at a biotechnology research institute.
Her daily work consisted of cleaning and feeding the aquatic animals in the tanks.
Her demanding boss and meager wages drove her to quit after just two months.
She never dreamed that the monster in Tank One would knock on her window one rainy night.
[Story Three] "The Life-Taking Water Ghost"
A girl who's a poor student and a good athlete x a water ghost who was bullied to death
Sheng Ran got into the best high school in the city thanks to her family's money and her athletic talent. Senior year crept up on her, but her grades still wouldn't improve.
Her father said angrily, "If you don't make the cutoff next time, don't bother coming home!"
Luckily, Sheng Ran met a top student while clearing her head by the river she often visited.
After half a month of tutoring, Sheng Ran just barely passed the practice exam cutoff.
She was thinking about how to thank him when the student in front of her suddenly sighed, looking at his phone. "What a shame. He's so handsome."
"What?" Sheng Ran asked curiously.
The student handed her the phone. It showed a missing person notice.
It was an ID photo from his first year of high school, and his eyes had been pixelated. But from the handsome lower half of his face, Sheng Ran immediately recognized the top student who'd been tutoring her lately.
