[Completed. This novel will be available to subscribers starting February 1, 2025!]
Xu Jun'an is the kind of extraordinarily unlucky person who can choke on water badly enough to end up in the emergency room. He has worked hard and carefully to stay alive for twenty-five years, and at last, just as everyone expected, he kicked the bucket.
The deceased himself has this to say: Hahaha, should anyone really be surprised? :)
And the bad news gets worse: he died... but not completely.
At his funeral, Xu Jun'an, now a ghost, sits by his own grave listening to a messenger from the underworld drone on. Apparently, he still has unfinished business, and has to take care of it before he can be reincarnated. What a load of nonsense.
When he wakes up, all the guests have left. Xu Jun'an brushes himself off and is about to head out, when he sees... his longtime nemesis, whom he hasn't seen in years, has shown up too?
Beneath the misty drizzle, the other man stares at his gravestone and slowly raises a hand, expressionless.
Ghost Xu Jun'an's alarm bells ring at once: Oh no, is he going to dig up my grave?!
The next moment, something that might be a tear falls unexpectedly onto the hand Xu Jun'an has reached out to stop him with.
Ghost Xu Jun'an: ?
After that day, Xu Jun'an, still tied to the mortal world, is given an arduous task. To successfully be reincarnated, he must find the deepest obsession Xie Juwu has connected to him and help him fulfill it.
Xu Jun'an: Fine, I'll put up with it. (clenches fist)
Plan One: Give him a birthday cake to make up for what he missed as a child.
Late at night, Xu Jun'an sneaks into the other man's home and secretly watches from the side. He sees Xie Juwu stick a row of three red candles into the cake. In the eerie candlelight, it's hard to tell whether this is a birthday in the world of the living.
Xu Jun'an thinks it over seriously: So... Xie Juwu likes the number three!
Just as he's about to slip away, a hand suddenly reaches out of the darkness and grabs his wrist.
Fake, with a heavy grudge x genuinely unhinged widower
Reader's guide:
1. One-on-one, both leads are each other's only partners, happy ending. The leads aren't perfect characters, so this may not be for readers who are extremely particular about characterization.
2. Past and present lives warning! There will be a twist later.
3. Includes some school-day flashbacks. Everything about the underworld is the author's own invention, so please don't scrutinize it for accuracy!
4. Feel free to chat in the comments. It's so boring when no one does, qaq. Thanks for reading this far, and wishing you all the best!

He Finally Remembers
Everyone in their circle knows that the Ying family has an illegitimate son who is an embarrassment to them. That punching bag was born with white hair and looks like a monster. He's so mild-tempered that anyone can walk all over him.
At the birthday banquet, the Ying family's second son slams a cake onto his head in front of everyone, drawing a roar of laughter from the guests.
The Ying family's eldest son has a childhood friend who is adored by everyone and whom he secretly loves. Mistaking the illegitimate son for someone trying to attract his attention, the eldest son warns him with a look of disgust: "You think these tricks will get my attention? Stop being so disgusting!"
Faced with all this, Ying Fusang seems unable to sense the malice. He silently endures the same life day after day.
Until the moment he is kidnapped, forced to choose between two people, and thrown into the sea...
The man everyone hates finally remembers.
In the underworld, he was forced to work as the King of Hell for seven hundred years. To escape the grind of being an underworld bureaucrat, he deliberately used forbidden magic and got fired, then was punished by being sent to undergo this tribulation.
On the brink of death, Ying Fusang is rescued by his ex-boyfriend, who has been "dead" for five hundred years, and discovers that he still has to live a little longer.
Remembering everything that has happened over the last decade, Ying Fusang smiles brightly. Fine, then.
And so, everyone discovers that the punching bag who narrowly escaped death has suddenly stopped taking their abuse.
His eldest brother, trapped in a pit and on the verge of death after an avalanche, begs him for help. Ying Fusang stands at the edge of the pit and looks down at him.
His second brother realizes that the universally adored person has been using him, and tries to make amends by throwing Ying Fusang a belated birthday party. Ying Fusang picks up the cake and smacks it into his face, then smiles and asks, "Taste good?"
His calculating birth mother tries every possible way to make up for the past and beg for forgiveness, but Ying Fusang treats her like a stranger.
After he starts hitting back hard and refuses to indulge anyone, the very people who once thought even looking at him was beneath them suddenly change their tune. They reminisce about the past and confess their regrets.
When the chronic illness he's suffered from for years finally flares up, those people gather around Ying Fusang's hospital bed. His eldest and second brothers, who once despised him, kneel beside the bed with red eyes, clutching his clothes and begging him to stay alive. Ying Fusang raises an arm... and brushes their hands away.
The day he is about to return to his true post, those people realize modern medicine can't help him. They even hire a medium to send their souls to the underworld, all in the hope of bringing him back.
Ying Fusang returns, wearing his crown and robes, and looks at the crowd clogging the entrance to the King of Hell's hall. Ignoring their shocked and trembling expressions, he yawns and drawls, "Move aside. You're in the way."
Seems aloof but is actually ill-tempered shou x gentle, scheming gong who only cares about the shou
Ghost god x god of matchmaking
Reader's guide:
1. Both leads are each other's only partners, one-on-one, happy ending. There is a reason the shou is "mild-tempered" in the blurb, and it will be explained! As for why the leads broke up: this is not a real substitute romance, and the characters don't keep silent and make things harder for themselves just to create tragic romance. Read the story to find out the actual reason!
2. The leads aren't perfect characters, and the shou isn't a conventional "good person." Also, this may not be for readers who are extremely particular about characterization.
3. The underworld and related details are still almost entirely the author's own invention, so please don't scrutinize them for accuracy.
4. This novel has a secondary couple! But everything serves the main plot, and their scenes are limited.
5. The shou is in his third year of high school at the start. The story mostly follows chronological order, with school scenes and flashbacks to ancient times from a century ago.
Theme: Cherish life
I like the final ending very much. They can finally live and die together. I hope they will continue to live happily together in the story we cannot see.
[Cat head] Wuyun Zundu is so cute, damn Hei Hei Hei, he actually ordered me to lose weight. [Cat head] The young couple is still as sweet and warm as ever. I didn't expect that there was a car at the end [covering face and peeking] It's very beautiful 🐰
I finished reading it last night and will leave a review tonight. The writing is quite fluent and comfortable to read (I'm tired of those pretentious writing styles). The memories are interspersed just right, not abrupt or too long, and there are one or two transitions that are quite clever. Although the author seems to be a new author, his writing is better than that of many novices. I enjoyed reading this article as a bedtime read 🧋. By the way, I thought that Gong's family background would be very complicated, and that Gong's family would be the main event, but it turns out that this is not the focus. Hahahahaha, maybe because this is a short story. I hope the author writes a medium-length novel with a fuller plot 💪 (I have a brain that I have forgotten half of the previous plot after reading the article, so I can only talk about my reading experience 😂)
It's great, I want to watch the extras. I feel like the relationship is progressing a bit quickly, and I feel like I accepted it inexplicably.
It's so well written, I read it in one sitting, it's great! 🥺
So well written! Looking forward to the long new article 🌈
Thank you for meeting me... It's really cool. I also want to watch the extras 😣 😣 😣
