The feud between the Xu and Lu families is common knowledge in Beicheng. It began in the 1960s and has continued into the generation of Xu Wanqiao and Lu Zhizhou.
At a party, someone who didn’t know the story casually remarked that the Xu family’s young lady and the Lu family’s young master made a perfect match.
The Xu parents immediately flew into a rage. “Even if every man in the world died, our Qiaoqiao still wouldn’t go for a Lu boy!”
The Lu family was just as indignant. “There are enough girls chasing our Azhou to circle Beicheng. Who wants one of your daughters?”
Neither side would back down, and the scene grew painfully awkward.
In the corner, Xu Wanqiao glanced at her sworn enemy, her expression haughty. “Did you hear that? My mom won’t let me hang out with you.”
Lu Zhizhou glanced at her and said coolly, “Mm. Then let go of my hand first.”
