Returning soon. I'll finish writing it.
In the fortieth year of the Dazhao era, the late emperor passes away. Everyone says Consort Hui Jiang Jin is doomed. When the late emperor was alive, Xiao Min, then a prince, hated her more than anyone.
Now that the new emperor has ascended the throne, she is surely the first person he will go after.
Yet in the new emperor's bedchamber, beneath red candles and gauzy curtains, Jiang Jin stands with a cold expression. The new emperor, Xiao Min, slowly circles her, running one hand along her neck. Suddenly he stops at her side, his gaze sinister. "Two months. You actually dared."
Jiang Jin looks at him coldly without so much as a glance, as though even looking at him is an unbearable chore.
"I had this specially prepared for you. Drink it." Xiao Min looks past her at the peony-patterned porcelain bowl on the tea table, steam rising from it.
"He treats me with deep devotion. I'm willing to bear his child. I won't drink that medicine." Jiang Jin meets his gaze, her voice firm.
"Mmph, "
Someone grips her neck hard. Xiao Min seems to be using every ounce of strength he has, his eyes reddening at the corners. "You actually dared to be with him. Who allowed it?"
"Drink the medicine, and I'll pretend this never happened."
"You'd better kill me." Jiang Jin's eyes blaze with cold defiance.
Xiao Min sneers. "Kill you? How could I bear to?" He leans close, sniffing her hair with a sickly devotion.
"Ugh, " Jiang Jin is forced to tilt her head back, swallowing with a "gulp, gulp." Brown medicinal liquid trails from the corner of her lips down her neck.
After forcing the abortifacient down her throat, Xiao Min lets go. Jiang Jin's body goes limp, and she falls onto the bed, her face contorted in pain. Her robe is soaked beneath her, and blood stains the bedding.
Xiao Min thinks he's gone mad. He stole the crown prince's position from his legitimate son and poisoned his father to death, all so he could possess her.
He still remembers the cold palace back then, when everyone treated him like dirt, casting him aside and mocking him coldly. Jiang Jin passed by with an umbrella, bent down with a smile, and held out a hand to him.
But she became his father's woman. Who could understand the jealousy festering in his heart?
"Xiao Min, have you forgotten what you did three months ago?" Jiang Jin clutches her belly. Her phoenix eyes are full of resentment, and she gives a bitter, almost vengeful laugh in a hoarse voice.
Xiao Min trembles all over. Three months ago... then this child...
