*Since both are movies and both were filmed in Hong Kong, I pictured Bruce as Ben Affleck when writing this. Also, the past timeline and a half take place in Hong Kong, and the female lead is Wasian.
Celeste Yushi is notorious. First, she's a woman. Second, she's a politician. And last, her base of operations is Gotham. In short, she's a woman trying to stir up a storm in Gotham, so no faction is going to go easy on her. Even though she's one of the few surviving former Jaeger pilots, that gilded status once gave her a ticket into politics, but it can't save her anymore. On top of that, her private life is a mess. When asked, "How do you balance your family and your career?" she publicly refuses to answer.
My heartfelt response was just like everyone else's: "You're all right."
As he had so many times before, Bruce refused to fall behind. "She's right."
But every time I watched him deceive himself, I found myself believing a little less. Ghostly cracks spread all around us, and every step I took toward him felt like wading through quicksand. Some things were frozen beneath the ocean and would never return.
All I had were ten sleepless nights and a heart that refused to rest.
