My Betrothed Can Hear My Thoughts

Shang Yu and Ming Zhi have been engaged for a year.

Shang Yu has always thought of his fiancée as proper, graceful, gentle, and virtuous. Their marriage is a business arrangement, and Ming Zhi is an excellent match for him.

Until one day, Shang Yu suddenly gains the ability to hear Ming Zhi's thoughts.

After getting engaged, they agree to go on a date once a month.

After their meal, Ming Zhi gently dabs the corner of her mouth with a napkin, a perfectly measured smile on her lips. "I had a lovely time on our date today."

Alongside her words, he hears her thoughts: [Finally done putting up with that old fossil.]

Thirty years old. Young and accomplished. Wealthy at a young age. Shang Yu: Is she calling me an old fossil?

Ever since he awakened this ability to hear thoughts, Shang Yu has discovered that his fiancée has many sides to her.

Before they got to know each other, they had each filled out a personal information form.

Under hobbies, Ming Zhi wrote: reading, gardening, and listening to music.

These are common hobbies among refined young ladies.

What does she like to read? Shakespeare.

What flowers does she grow? Orchids, a symbol of grace and virtue.

What music does she listen to? Classical music.

Naturally, Shang Yu assumes she is just the same.

But in reality...

While discussing Shakespeare with her, Shang Yu hears Ming Zhi think: [Was the last book I read called The Beloved of Young Master Li, or Young Master Li Pursues His Wife 101 Times?]

For Qixi Festival, Shang Yu gives Ming Zhi a rare orchid. He hears her think: [Instead of this stuff, he could give me some money to spend.]

Shang Yu gets two tickets to a classical music concert and goes with Ming Zhi. Afterward, he suddenly hears her think: [My own concerts still rock harder.]

Ming Zhi has concerts of her own?

How did he not know?

Later, at an electronic music festival, Shang Yu sees his gentle, serene fiancée wearing smoky eye makeup and holding drumsticks as she sings rock music onstage.

Shang Yu: "..." His fiancée really knows how to surprise him.
