The Short-Lived White Moonlight Only Wants to Live

Li Hexing's ascension goes wrong, and she unexpectedly finds herself inside a Mary Sue body-double novel, as the heroine Ying Wuli's deceased first love.

The System tells her to follow the plot and complete missions: warm the heroine's heart while alive, then become an obstacle and catalyst in her love life after death.

Li Hexing: "?" Is this stupid System broken?

To avoid becoming Ying Wuli's first love, Li Hexing never takes the initiative to speak to her, and never takes credit for her good deeds.

But later, Ying Wuli still starts looking at her strangely.

Ying Wuli dreams that she is the heroine of a melodramatic novel, the true daughter of the Ying family who was lost as a child.

But the Ying family refuses to reveal her identity. At school, she is mocked by everyone, and only Li Hexing is willing to help her.

The adopted daughter, Ying Chaosheng, keeps claiming she's only trying to help, yet won't even clear Ying Wuli's name. She lets others bully her, and in the end, Ying Wuli is still supposed to be happily in love with her.

Ying Wuli refuses to accept this. She tries to change the course of her fate, but no matter how she avoids it, the scenes from her dream keep coming true again and again.

Until one rainy day, Li Hexing appears, defying the path fate had laid out.

Ying Wuli finds a turning point in Li Hexing and thinks she can take control of her destiny, until Li Hexing disappears from her world for good.

Years later, they meet again.

Li Hexing smiles freely. "You've made a name for yourself now. All those awful things are behind you."

But only Ying Wuli knows that after Li Hexing disappeared, her whole world came crashing down with her.

Facing the person she has longed for day and night, all she can do is humbly beg for a hug from an old friend.

Later.

Li Hexing glares at Ying Wuli, sitting in her lap, and pins down her hand. "Didn't we agree it would just be one hug?"
