Blurb, 2024.07.29
When Dang An heard his buddy had landed a government job back in his hometown, he couldn’t have been more envious.
His grades weren’t as good as his buddy’s, and he wasn’t as quick-witted. After graduation, he kept running into dead ends.
He didn’t even get the chance to reform the workplace as a post-00s youngster, because he couldn’t get into the workplace at all.
He tactfully asked his buddy to help him find a job. His buddy said there was an opening for a security guard at a night school built next to a mass grave, and asked if he was interested.
Security guard sounded great. Twelve hours on duty, thirteen hours playing on his phone.
Dang An was thrilled.
Security Guard Diary, Day One.
Day shift. Clear skies. 26°C. No wind.
I did my best to greet everyone coming and going. They all smiled so politely, their politeness made my skin crawl.
A really handsome guy gave me a bottle of water. Hey, it was sweet. That night, I had a wonderful dream about getting rich, and almost couldn’t wake up from how good it felt.
Pretty great, pretty great!
I love being a security guard. Being a security guard makes me happy.
Security Guard Diary, Day Two.
Night shift. No stars. A light breeze. 21°C.
Ten bright-eyed students went in. Five students came out with injured arms and legs.
The pressure of studying must be awful. Look at how it’s worn these students down, their faces deathly pale, like they’ve been drained dry.
The teacher walking last, his eyes bloodshot, gave me a bunch of luscious green jujubes. I took a bite. Whoa, they were so sour I nearly died on the spot.
I dug a hole and buried them in the dark flower bed. Nobody will find them, right?
I love being a security guard. Being a security guard makes me happy!
Security Guard Diary, Day Three.
Day shift. Heavy fog. 22°C. Gale-force winds.
The sign on the fifty-story school building got blown off. The school administrator, with his huge round belly and darting little eyes, told me to go pick it up from the roof.
Tsk. If I hadn’t trained for it, I really wouldn’t have managed.
I turned around and saw that the handsome guy who gave me water had a bruise on his face. He said someone was fighting behind the school building. I rushed over, only to find two cute little dogs going at each other.
Aw, they’re adorable. I want to steal them.
The security office could use a dog.
Only these dogs aren’t very well-behaved. They’re always baring their teeth and trying to lunge for my neck.
Oh well. They’ll behave after a beating.
If one beating isn’t enough, I’ll give them two more. Heehee.
I love being a security guard. Being a security guard is so much fun!!
Security Guard Diary, Day...
Holy crap, what the hell is that thing growing in the dark flower bed? A bird with five and a half heads, covered in eyes, with a slimy, snot-covered forehead. I wonder who left a whole row of bite marks on it.
The little dog that keeps baring its teeth is acting up again. It sneaks out late at night behind my back and only returns at dawn. Who knows what kind of random stuff it’s been eating? Every time I see it, its belly’s round and full, and there’s blood around its mouth.
The strangest one is the handsome guy who gave me water. He insists on squeezing into the security office, claiming the bed there is comfortable, and even dragged his suitcase onto my bed.
Is this guy trying to steal my job!!!
