But an hour before the ball begins, the person who sent the threat dies, and the mission is canceled.

Using advanced technology to enter the dead person's memories, the protagonists witness a story filled with blood and betrayal.

Once, two little girls sat shoulder to shoulder atop the ruins of the Third District, drinking beer and swearing that the whole city would bow before them.

But now one of them has received a farewell letter from the dead.

The Naraku Unit is ordered to escort the Pope of the Divine Light Church to the distant Tangzhou on an inspection tour.

Information is scarce there, the Grays struggle to survive, and the surface dwellers are numb and apathetic.

Communications inside and outside the region have long been monopolized by the powerful. The people are kept in the dark, unable to see the bigger picture.

Third story: Humanity's Last Hope (ongoing)

The Naraku Unit is ordered to travel to Nantizhou.

The religious order is consumed by greed.

While preaching reproductive freedom, it also forces its female followers to keep bearing children.

The flames of this madness reach the women of the Naraku Unit as well...

A little extra rambling:

I noticed that my first chapter has unusually high clicks but poor retention. There are two possibilities: first, my writing is ugly; second, someone maliciously boosted the clicks on my first chapter.
