After a war that lasted for centuries ends, the long era of eternal night comes to a close. Betas, unaffected by pheromones and free of heat and rut cycles, reclaim their dominance over the world thanks to their stable physiology and vast numbers.
At sixteen, Chen Yingzhen, the goddess of Evernight Academy and the heiress upon whom her family's hopes rest, presents as an Omega.
To avoid having her inheritance rights stripped away, Chen Yingzhen decides to have her glands removed.
But federal law forbids this high-mortality surgery on anyone under the age of eighteen.
Chen Yingzhen has no choice but to pass herself off as a Beta until she comes of age.
The trouble is, it seems a lot of people want to fully mark her before that day arrives.
All of them are willing to start another war to do it.
A gentle, cool, universally adored heiress, and all the men and women who admire her.
Of course, no one will mark her.
