September Begins
What kind of life counts as success in the eyes of the world?
Achieving something no one has ever accomplished before.
Chi Yuan Zhenwo and Ichihara Izumi, two elementary schoolers living worlds apart, had planned to go their separate ways after winning the national doubles tennis championship. The former would return to Osaka, attend Shitenhoji, and keep playing tennis. The latter would pack up and head back to Hokkaido to inherit the family business.
Then, at that very moment, the gears of fate began to turn.
A tennis ball streaking through the air with lightning in its wake, and Rikkai, the team with fifteen straight Kanto championships, burst into their world.
Chi Yuan Zhenwo
“I’m going to become the world’s number one tennis player!” The red-haired boy, brimming with confidence, paid no heed to the astonished looks of his classmates. He nimbly climbed onto a large rock by the Rikkai entrance and shouted out his ambition.
He gripped his racket and swung it with all his might, copying the form shown in The Path to Kingship.
Then...the grim-faced discipline committee member caught him, and he won himself a week of hallway-cleaning duty.
Ichihara Izumi
A faint smell of disinfectant hung in the hospital room. The purple-haired upperclassman wore blue-and-white striped pajamas. Weak but gentle, he laid a hand on the blue-and-white-haired boy's shoulder. His voice was soft, yet full of hope. “I’m entrusting Rikkai’s future to you.”
“Yes, senpai!” The boy's red eyes shone with determination. His resolute reply sealed an unbreakable vow with his senior.
“I absolutely won’t let you down.”
Premise: Victory after victory is my destiny.
