A Letter to Li Jiahe

A haughty, sharp-tongued man vs. an honest, pretty boy

The place he hates most is also where the person he can't bear to leave behind lives.

On the day Li Jiahe gets out of prison, Wei Xin is the only one there to meet him. He buys him noodles, finds him a place to stay, and at the station presses all his savings into Li Jiahe's hands, wishing him a safe journey.

After that, they don't see each other for three years.

Then one day, Li Jiahe quietly appears outside a kindergarten. The children inside are playing games. Among them is a male teacher in a white shirt, smiling gently, with a clean and unassuming air.

"You've grown taller, but you're still so thin," Li Jiahe murmurs.

They were deskmates in high school. Wei Xin was insecure and timid, while Li Jiahe was proud and high-spirited. Li Jiahe thought the world was too dangerous for Wei Xin, so he said, "I'll protect you. Let's stay together from now on."

But in the end, those words became nothing more than a joke.

Sensing something, Wei Xin looks toward the kindergarten entrance. There's no one there, only dead leaves blown down by the wind.

After school that afternoon, a child runs up to him. "Teacher Wei, someone asked me to give this to you!"
