Xia Chiyu decided to leave Lin Mushen, the man who had once been his entire world.

They had grown up and lived together. Only belatedly did Xia Chiyu realize that Lin Mushen might love him, but would never understand him or know what kind of life he truly wanted.

Xia Chiyu moved to a quiet village, opened a secondhand bookstore, and continued writing.

He planned to spend the rest of his life living quietly on his own, but he never expected a reckless troublemaker to suddenly barge into it.

Jiang Li was twenty-one, straight, and handsome. When he first learned Xia Chiyu was gay, he was surprised, guarded, and uncomfortable. Gradually, though, he realized he had been overthinking it and letting his vanity get the better of him.

One winter afternoon, as they chatted, Jiang Li suddenly found himself dazed by the man's smile.

He realized that although Xia Chiyu seemed gentle most of the time, there was always loneliness in his eyes.

The worst part was that this loneliness only drew Jiang Li in more.

Once Jiang Li realized how he felt, he bravely, if haltingly, confessed his love. Then he was rejected.

But young people are fearless. He kept declaring his love.

"I don't mind being your backup. I don't want to be your friend."

"I don't care if there's someone else in your heart. It's fine if you love him most. Just love me second."

"Ge, can you look at me?"

Xia Chiyu had to admit that he was already getting used to Jiang Li's company. Especially in this cold, quiet winter, the young man's passion was hard to resist.

Just as Xia Chiyu began to waver, the bookstore door swung open. The sound of a rolling suitcase drowned out the footsteps as Lin Mushen walked in, his expression indifferent beneath the snow and wind.

He stopped, lit a cigarette, looked at the two of them, and drawled, "Quite the lively scene."

But the lively days were only just beginning. Lin Mushen moved into the bookstore too, and from then on, the two men were constantly jealous of each other.

Xia Chiyu: I want to leave. I want to move.

Wei Xin knew he couldn't disappoint Li Jiahe's kindness and goodwill.

So he buried his feelings as deep as he could, without leaving the slightest trace.

Wei Xin knew he and Li Jiahe had, at most, three years of high school together.

Li Jiahe would graduate without a hitch, get into an excellent university, and have a bright future ahead of him. Everyone thought so.

But no one expected that even the little sun could fall one day.

The school buzzed with rumors for a while, then quickly returned to normal.

No one mentioned Li Jiahe again. Everyone seemed to have silently agreed that he had never existed.

Only Wei Xin stubbornly guarded Li Jiahe's desk, refusing to let anyone move it.

They couldn't do anything about Wei Xin, and didn't want to argue with a fool.
