Back in high school, on a rainy day in foggy London, Shi Yu knelt on the ground, covered in wounds. He watched Song Mingzhao approach step by step beneath her umbrella, like a divine being sent to save him.

She tilted her umbrella to shield him from the rain.

From then on, a splash of brightness entered Shi Yu's world.

Song Mingzhao always showed up just in time whenever Shi Yu was bullied.

"Are you okay?" Concern showed in the girl's eyes as she carefully treated his wounds.

The only warmth Shi Yu had ever received, from childhood onward, came from Song Mingzhao.

He craved it all. How could a stray dog who had once known warmth bear to let go?

Shi Yu's eyes were full of longing. He gently raised a hand to touch the corner of Song Mingzhao's reddened eyes and murmured, "Will you leave me?"

Song Mingzhao tightened her arms around Shi Yu. She rested her chin on his shoulder and obediently replied, "Don't worry. I won't leave you."

Where he couldn't see, she smiled meaningfully.

How could I ever leave you, my dear little dog?

Unfortunately, Shi Yu knew nothing about any of this.

After receiving Song Mingzhao's firm answer, his voice grew feverishly unhinged. "Even if you die, I won't let you go."

Once her plan was complete, Song Mingzhao returned to China without a trace, leaving Shi Yu in London to search for her like a madman.

Song Mingzhao never expected that the two of them would meet again in China years later.

In a dim corridor, the man pinned her into a corner. He looked vicious and unruly as he demanded, again and again, "Tell me, why did you leave without a word back then?"

Later, Shi Yu asked her, "Am I still useful to you?"

"As long as I can stay by your side, I'll do anything you ask."
