The long-abandoned Mystic Demon Realm had finally welcomed its eighteenth Demon King: Nuo Yan, who had grown up in the mortal realm.
Standing atop the Demon-Suppressing Tower, she looked down imperiously at her subjects and declared, "Demons, times have changed!"
The weak little demons exchanged uncertain glances. But as the secret realm continued to develop, they learned for the first time that they could eat their fill without fighting and killing, live in warm homes without selling themselves into hard labor, and grow stronger without fighting cultivators to the death.
There was just something strange about these cultivators. The Demon King usually called them players.
They were constantly startled by everything, as if they'd never seen the world. Their strength was pitiful, yet they loved picking fights. In short, they were nothing like anyone she'd dealt with before...
Inside the Demon King's Hall.
Nuo Yan directed her subordinates through row after row of mystical light mirrors:
"Bone Demon, slow down a little! A pile of bones running that fast will get complaints from the players!"
"Little fox, one of the players has gone off course. Toss out a treasure chest and lure him back!"
"Peachwood Ghost, the players have nearly picked all the spirit herbs in the western district. Hurry over and restock!"
"Black Bear Demon, how many times have I told you? You can't attack players while they're opening their inventory! Make that mistake again and I'll punish you by making you an explainer NPC!"
"Reporting!" A Fluffball Monster squeaked and rolled into the hall. "Your Majesty, the elegant and ethereal White Crane Immortal Lord and the peerlessly handsome, wickedly charming Golden Civet Demon King are fighting in the secret realm!"
"Let them fight," Nuo Yan said without looking back. "Remember to have the Mirror Demon record it for a promotional video."
Wait, no! She hurriedly dropped her work and ran out.
Today was the day the Special Administration Bureau for Industry and Commerce was coming to inspect the place. This time, she absolutely couldn't let them ruin the evaluation of her full-immersion VR gaming center, Cultivators' Secret Realm!
