No one knew where Shi Wu had come from. One day, people simply noticed a grubby, ugly little girl had appeared at the funeral home.

There had once been an old madman there, so people naturally started calling her Little Madwoman.

Little Madwoman followed the old madman and learned excellent medical skills. Later, she apprenticed under the county yamen's coroner.

No one had ever taken Shi Wu seriously. But when the coroner suddenly died, she gradually made a name for herself, eventually becoming famous throughout the land for her superb forensic skills.

Even the county magistrate, a lord of wealth and status, had to give her a thumbs-up and say, "A perfect match for the job!"

The male lead's story:

After offending an influential person, Lu Chenzhi was demoted and sent to serve as county magistrate of Fengdu County.

True to its name, Fengdu was a place where all kinds of "evil spirits" ran rampant beneath the bright heavens.

Lu Chenzhi threw himself into reform, determined to turn the crooked ways straight.

But first, there was an urgent problem to solve: the coroner was dead.

On the county deputy's recommendation, he ordered someone to find the late coroner's only apprentice.

Whatever her skills might be, her appearance alone made her hard to trust.

Still, mindful of his own manners, he suppressed his discomfort and gave her a chance to prove herself.

Lu Chenzhi could never understand how a perfectly normal person could live in such a state.

Then one day, he barged into her territory uninvited and witnessed a scene that made him furious.

The laziness and slovenliness he had assumed were really a disguise she used to protect herself.
