The Queen's Gambit is an opening tactic in chess. By sacrificing the pawn on the queen's side, a player fights for control of the center and opens a path for the queen, gaining an advantage in the position.
“So are you a pawn to be sacrificed, or the queen?” Kroos set down the special interview edition of his soccer magazine and turned to ask his gray-blue-eyed childhood friend beside him.
Rosemont smiled faintly. “Neither.”
“I’m just an ordinary person who can’t see the future, so I do my best with every move I make.”
Rosemond Kowalski went from being cast aside by Bayern’s youth academy to becoming a world-class midfielder hailed as a human computer and the conductor of the pitch. He made his way from thorn-covered ground to bright skies and blossoms.
Some love his beautiful face, and some love the honors he has won;
but more love his noble character and indomitable spirit.
How would you describe the player Rosemont Kowalski?
A rose on the outside, thorns at heart.
Notes
1. The protagonist is German-Polish, plays for the DFB national team, and transfers clubs twice in the main story. The story is split evenly between national-team and club football, beginning with the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
2. A big football stew. There may be several romances, or the storylines may split.
3. This is not an overpowered wish-fulfillment story. He will lose and get injured, but he will grow, and he will eventually win all the major trophies. A heads-up for fans of players and teams whose titles and awards might get snatched away by the butterfly effect.
4. More notes to come if I think of any.
Theme: A summer fairy tale.
