Qi Mingxue first met Shen An at the opening ceremony of their first year of high school. The boy stood on the stage in his school uniform, smiling like a spring breeze. His gentle, magnetic voice rang across the whole campus. What a lovely voice, Qi Mingxue thought.
Qi Mingxue met Shen An for the second time on an ordinary summer night. The boy was filthy, blood dripping from his hand, his eyes filled with unrelenting malice. Qi Mingxue took him to a pharmacy.
Qi Mingxue met Shen An for the third time at a popular bubble tea shop, where the crowds were thick. Qi Mingxue waited a long time, sweating nervously as he went over what to say again and again in his mind. Just as he was about to speak, the boy's gentle voice rang out. "Boss, one red bean milk tea, hot and sweet." Qi Mingxue turned around. A pale, slender hand reached out to him. "Hello, my little savior. I'm Shen An." He froze for a moment, then took the offered hand. "Hello, I'm Qi Mingxue."
Shen An never imagined that a brilliant light would appear in his bleak life. He never imagined that, because of that light, he would learn to love and reclaim his life.
Perhaps love at first sight really can last forever. That was what Qi Mingxue thought later.
Theme: Life isn't just about getting by in the here and now. There is also poetry and the distant horizon.
