Forced to Marry a C-Rank Sentinel

1.

Jing Lin is an S-rank guide and a colonel in the Empire's military, but his spirit form has gone missing.

From then on, he was an incomplete guide (crossed out). From then on, he was a guide unaffected by heat cycles.

He thought he'd easily escaped the White Tower's forced-match system, but seven years later, a newly graduated C-rank sentinel showed up at his door with his spirit form.

"Hello. Marry me."

"I've retired. The White Tower has no authority over me. See yourself out."

"I have your spirit form. Marry me."

"..."

2.

Jing Lin held the leopard cat he'd just adopted and watched coldly as the C-rank sentinel moved in with a mountain of luggage. The moment he turned around, he egged the kitten on to shred the man's uniform.

As Liang Yi unpacked, he watched the cat crouched on his clothes, leisurely licking its fur. Exasperated, he said, "Do you even remember your mission, may I ask?"

The cat shot him a glance, haughtily aloof. "Of course. Win Jing Lin's heart. I've already done it, so you do your best."

3.

Jing Lin once had a lover who died in the Mist Battle seven years ago. But he had forgotten his lover's name, forgotten what he looked like, and even forgotten that he had ever had a lover.

[Coming soon] Raising a Jellyfish Guide

-

In the year 3026 of the Star Calendar, specially evolved humans make up 32% of the global population. To address incidents of these special humans harming ordinary people, the Alliance government established the Special Evolution Investigation Bureau.

Yu Zhenyi is an over-S+ rank guide who can sense every trace left on an object by touching it. Whenever the Special Investigation Bureau can't solve a case, they ask him for help.

But Yu Zhenyi has a fatal weakness: he suffers from hyperesthesia. Every sound and movement in the outside world overwhelms him, so he can only live in an air-raid shelter twenty meters underground.

One day, the balance he had maintained for years was disrupted by the newly appointed captain of the Special Investigation Bureau's First Action Team.

The former captain of the First Action Team had been Yu Zhenyi's sole designated contact with the outside world. After his unexpected death, Li Siqi, transferred from the Alliance Special Operations Force, took over the assignment.

"This place is about to collapse. You have to leave!"

"This is an air-raid shelter. Captain, do you know what that means? Even if your whole bureau collapses, this place won't." The second Yu Zhenyi finished speaking, his sharp ears caught the thick ceiling overhead cracking apart. His eyes widened in disbelief as he summoned his spirit form: Jellyfish Bubble.

"Bubble, quick, cover my head."

The transparent jellyfish covered Yu Zhenyi's head like a helmet, cutting him off from the outside world.

Li Siqi scooped him up and carried him out of the air-raid shelter with practiced speed. The moment they got outside, the ground where the shelter stood completely collapsed.

The special consultant's home was destroyed, so the captain of the Special Investigation Bureau's First Action Team had no choice but to take him home. But! Why was the famously icy Consultant Yu...?

"The bedding has to be silk."

"My toiletries need to be made with all-natural ingredients."

"You make all three meals. I don't eat takeout."

"..."

Yu Zhenyi was more sensitive than a jellyfish. Until his home was rebuilt, Captain Li had to take good care of him for the sake of the bureau's case-solving rate!

"Oh, right. Your spirit form has to stay with me 24 hours a day."

Only then could Li Siqi's spiritual energy envelop Yu Zhenyi and shield him from the pain of hyperesthesia.

And so, everyone at the Special Investigation Bureau knew that the First Action Team captain's mighty S+ spirit form, a forest wolf, was being petted by Consultant Yu like a husky.
