Set during the Guangling era, it tells the story of a litigator from Baixiang and the woman he came to know and love. Litigator Liao Ming once lost his way after a string of failures. A concubine-sale case brought him back together with Li Yunjiao, whom he had fallen for at first sight when they were young. To save her elder brother, Yunjiao tried everywhere to find help, but to no avail. She turned to Liao Ming, offering herself in exchange for his help in overturning her brother's case. Once she realized that he was not a bad person at heart, she guided him back to the right path. In the end, they fell sincerely in love and married.
