All-around career-focused actress x lazy, devoted rich heir
Childhood friend pines after childhood sweetheart
As the only girl of her generation in the Sheng family, Sheng Yi's life could be summed up with one lyric:
"I want it, I got it."
Ever since she saw a dazzling actress on TV at the age of three, she'd been determined to grow up to shine just as brightly.
And her dream came true. At twenty-five, she became a top-tier star and award-winning actress across film, television, and music. She had both looks and talent.
Her biggest flaw was having too many rumors about her love life.
Her fans condemned the men involved: "Some of you guys need to stop clout-chasing. My girl shines on her own."
Sheng Yi herself said, "Some guys don't look like much, but sure have a lot of nerve."
Then she kept making her mark, with ambition written all over her face.
Until Sheng Yi joined a laid-back lifestyle show.
Wan Shi, the idle second son of the Wantong Group, showed up on screen as Sheng Yi's childhood friend. He dropped his lazy, spoiled-rich-kid act and followed her around, serving tea and water, and massaging her shoulders and back. If Sheng Yi told him to go east, he absolutely would not go west.
Wow, what a sycophant.
Her fans were stunned. By the end of the season, their attitude had undergone a complete reversal, from "Who does this guy think he is?" to:
"Wan Shi may be mediocre in every other way, but he's the only one allowed to be my girl's personal assistant."
When he was eight, Wan Shi moved in next door to Sheng Yi.
Sheng Yi was sitting by her front door when she saw Wan Shi in a little black suit, chest puffed out. She thought:
He looks all right. I can let him be my friend.
She soon discovered that Wan Shi had no manners at all once he became your friend. He didn't have a penny of pocket money, but when he saw the grilled sausage stand outside school, he still brazenly declared he would buy everything.
Then he held out his hand without a trace of shame. "Yi-jie, I want one."
Later, when they grew up,
he still sidled up to her without the slightest hesitation. "Yi-jie, let me kiss you."

"If you ship Wan Shi and Sheng Yi, may everything go your way!"
Song to listen to while reading:
Urban Moliere musical: "Aujourdhui tout va bien (Today, Everything Goes Right)"
SC: The male and female leads are the same age.
Tips:
1. Sheng Yi is all about her career and has acted in kissing scenes. Wan Shi follows his wife wherever she goes, always by her side. He's not completely useless, but he won't accomplish anything major. Read with caution if that's not your thing.
2. Sheng Yi is probably rather haughty, so she likely won't be easy to get along with. (This isn't completely decided yet. It might change while the novel is being written, but probably won't.)
