A Letter Arrives in Midsummer

Also known as The Rich Kid Who Sold Fruit.

One midsummer when they were seventeen, Chi Nanxue blushed as she handed Ye Qingguang a pink envelope.

She didn't even look at it before turning and running away.

From then on, she kept him at arm's length, terrified he might so much as brush against a corner of her best friend Shen Zizhen's clothes.

Shen Zizhen: ???

"Listen, I can explain. I didn't put her up to this!"

Chi Nanxue remained expressionless. "...I get it. You haven't realized your feelings yet. :)"

Years later, Ye Qingguang and Chi Nanxue reunited as a student's family member and a teacher. Only then did she learn that the letter had actually been meant for her.

At the top of the yellowed old letter, the young man's handwriting was strong and elegant:

[Dear Ye Qingguang, I hope this letter finds you well.]

All those years when everyone's eyes were fixed on her talented and beautiful friend, he had only ever seen her.

Long ago, deep in the passing years, the wind of his secret love had blown her way.

She had simply turned away too quickly to hear it.

Theme: Love can cross time.
