Snow Upon My Robes

Blurb:

Ye Lishang is the sharpest blade of the Anyu Tower, known as Qingming.

For five years, she has fought her way through mountains of corpses and seas of blood, all to protect the life of her only surviving younger brother and seek justice for their betrayed clan.

Ling Yu is the fastest wind of the Anyu Tower, codename Bai Yu.

For nine years, she has risen to the top, personally cutting down countless former fellow disciples beneath the moon, all to uphold the bloodstained rules of the Anyu Tower.

She is gravely wounded while saving a child. Breaking her mission, she lets him rush to the gates of Zhaotian Sect and take her away.

He receives a message saying, "Wait for me up ahead," and abandons the prey within his grasp, turning back to rescue her from a pack of wolves.

She rides a thousand miles through the night for him, traveling to the Tianshan Mountains to steal a snow lotus.

He buys every wedding gift and bridal outfit in the city for her, then says, "Marry me."

"The Anyu Tower has no place for the useless."

"So what?"

She takes her own life for him beneath a sky full of pear blossoms.

He closes her eyes with his own hands, then lies down beside her in the same coffin.

Only after the yellow earth has settled does he finally answer her words:

"In every life, I will stay by your side."

Many years later, the two retire from the world together and finally live a quiet, peaceful life.

By then, new pear blossoms fall like snow, brushing their clothes in the wind. Hand in hand, they walk through the flowers, year after year.

Reader's guide:

1. Both leads are killers and are rather coldhearted.

2. Wuxia romance, in an old-school style.

3. Angsty, melodramatic tragedy. The extra chapters have a happy ending, so proceed with caution.

Theme: Love others, but love yourself first.
