One night, Natsume accidentally gets bound to a guidance System for "boy band managers" in his sleep.

System: If you reach the pinnacle and claim the number one title, all your wishes will come true!

Natsume, who wants no trouble, refuses without a second thought.

System: Refusal denied. The contract has already been signed!

Natsume: ...

With no other choice, Natsume resigns himself to forming a group and entering performance competitions. But along the way, he keeps running into all sorts of bizarre yokai.

First, he finds Yato, the starving god, nearly fainting by the roadside. Then he encounters Sesshomaru, who has fallen from another world. While out shopping, he even bumps into an underworld officer on an inspection tour of the human world...

System: Well done, Host! You've assembled so many talented and unique members in no time!

Natsume: Hold on, they might not agree to join.

But when the System asks, all the yokai agree.

Yato: For just five yen, I'll take on any job!

Sesshomaru: I will, but you must make a sword tailored specifically for me!

Underworld officer: If you can help promote underworld culture too, then I suppose it isn't out of the question.

Natsume: ...Sometimes they don't have to be quite so agreeable.

And so, Natsume's yokai boy band grew even bigger.

With their enthusiastic participation, the competitions and performances were going splendidly. They were on the verge of reaching the top when Natsume was tainted by miasma while scouting a location for an outdoor shoot.

"Nyanko-sensei, I think I've gone deaf."

"What did you say?!"

Escorting Three Rebellious Immortals Back to Heaven

After the age of ice ends, spiritual qi returns to the human world. Tang Seng sets out on the path of cultivation like everyone else, only to receive a celestial decree: escort three rebellious immortals back to heaven.

Tang Seng exclaims in surprise, "Who is escorting whom? Where are we going?"

He then sees that the former Great Sage Equal to Heaven has become half stone and half monkey, while the Third Prince of Chentang Pass is a lotus root by day and a human by night. Even Erlang Shen, the God of Justice, has so little divine power left that he's no different from an ordinary human.

Tang Seng hesitates. "Tsk, what a fragile little squad. No wonder you need an escort! Fine, I'll take you!"

And so Tang Seng sets off for heaven, leading a blind god by the left hand, carrying three jin of lotus root in the right, and bearing a stone monkey on his back.

The journey, however, is far from peaceful. Monsters often show up to block their way.

Zhu Ganglie: "I made this road, I planted these trees. If you want to pass, pay the toll!"

Tang Seng snatches the god's weapon and stabs him. "I was just wondering what we'd eat!"

Azure Bull Demon: "I made this road, I planted these trees. If you want to pass, pay the toll!"

Tang Seng grabs the Red Armillary Sash and lashes out. "Perfect, we need a mount!"

Little White Dragon: "I made this road..."

Tang Seng hurls the stone monkey on his back like a weapon. "Can't you come up with a more original opening?"

After that...

Tang Seng growls, "I'm passing through this road. If you want to leave, pay with your lives!"

The monsters tremble. "Why isn't this guy anything like the rumors? He's so vicious, boohoo..."

When Natsume Enters a Battle Anime

Recently, Natsume receives a mission from the Temporal Administration. Time Retrograde Army members are using rifts in time and space to travel between worlds and disrupt the course of history. He is ordered to set out at once, eliminate them, and save important figures.

The missions aren't especially difficult, but Natsume always seems to run into people, familiar or otherwise, who invite him to join them.

In Beika City, he saves future stars of the police academy from a series of dangerous cases.

The five rescued academy students: "Natsume, would you like to join the police academy?"

Then Gin corners him in an alley. "Come with me. Join the Organization."

Natsume: "!!!"

On the human continent, he seeks out Meruem to negotiate and prevent the Association chairman's death.

Meruem: "You must defeat me before you earn the right to negotiate."

Then Hisoka corners him again. "Last time didn't count. Let's have a proper match this time."

Natsume: "..."

On Honshu Island, he summons tsukumogami to slay demons and save the Hashira.

Tanjiro: "Please, you have to join the Demon Slayer Corps!"

After sending so many demons to the underworld, he also attracts the attention of its officers. "Captain Natsume, please hurry up and die so you can take up your post at King Enma's Hall!"

Natsume: "???"

Afterward, Nyanko-sensei says lazily, "I never knew you were so popular, Natsume!"

Exhausted, Natsume replies, "Say one more thing and I'll pluck every hair off your tail!"

Nyanko-sensei gives him a sidelong grin. "You're truly the Underworld's Demon Captain now, aren't you?"
